WALK SUMMARY

A fascinating and beautiful 2 km hike up to an extraordinary mineral caldera lake just above a lovely cove of the west side of Isabela.

Graffiti, some old, on the low cliffs where you land. A steep clamber (wooden steps - sorry) to a ridge cloaked in scrub and small trees.

Thrilling view from the high ridge across the circular caldera in its deep bowl (with a low ridge separating it from the sea). You can walk on a bit further to the beginning of the inland lava fields. A slightly eerily quiet landscape, at least when Walkopedia was there, but for the occasional little birds.
