- The eponymous 2,829m volcano on Fogo ("fire") Island, with a 9km wide caldera, caldera cliffs 1km high, and a precarious village, routinely evacuated, inside it.
- The volcano features a breach in its east rim, a new crater (formed in1995) called Pico Pequeno, and a peak rising 1,100m above the caldera floor (Pico do Fogo).
