Mt Semeru
Key information: Mt Semeru 
- Javas highest mountain, a huge free-standing active volcano within the Tengger massif.
- A long trail through grassland and forest, passing a lovely volcanic lake (itself a fine day walk). The peak is a long days slog.
- This is a tough walk on a high, remote mountain. Come prepared. Best walked May-October.
