WALK SUMMARY
Dursey Island lies off the far western tip of the Beara Peninsula. Stunning land-and-seascapes, and the whole island is a wildlife reserve, to boot.
Lovely, remote, peaceful, wildlife-rich walking. The Beara Way circuits it in 14km/ around 4 hours.
Access is by Ireland’s only, and slightly alarming-looking, cable car.
The final hills of the peninsula also make for some lovely walking from easy roadheads (create your own circuits): huge sea views.
The South-west gets a lot of rain, and cloud/fog. Take great care with wayfinding in foggy/mist/cloudy conditions.
See our Beara Peninsula page for more general and practical information and photos.
