WALK SUMMARY
A generally moderate hike on the slopes above the Athabasca Glacier up to the high Wilcox Pass (actually, wide, flattish valley) amidst glaciated peaks for stunning views.
While you begin in trees, you are in beautiful, open meadows most of the time. Lower down, the views over the glacier are a tad affected by visible cars around the base, but hey.
Once you crest a ridge, higher up, the views open out further, and you get away into ever-wilder (windswept) country, with ever-better views.
The “pass” in its wide, level U-shaped valley is marked with a cairn and small sign.
