WALK SUMMARY
Jeff Floyd says:
"Launch of ‘The Great Gold Walk’, Victoria, Australia I write to advise that I have just launched a great new long distance walk in Victoria, Australia, to the west of Melbourne. This is the first long distance walk in Australia with walk-to accommodation. I am the former CEO of both this State’s (Victoria) parks and tourism agencies, and I am passionate about long distance walking. I have recently returned from walking the Pennine Way. Earlier walks include the Coast 2 Coast, the West Highland Way. the Great Glen Way and the Kumano Kodo. In 2013 I resolved to build a walk to rival the great walks in the UK, Europe and the US. Out of this passion, ‘The Great Gold Walk’ was born, which takes walkers from goldfields town to goldfields town, mainly along the State of Victoria’s Great Dividing Range, through some great and varied landscapes and heritage sites. Over the last 20 years Government agencies and many volunteers have built a continuous trail along this range. What was needed was an attractive route linking the gold-era towns, a quality guidebook suitable for the average walker, and an accommodation booking service. Walking and rewalking the route to develop the guidebook has taken me over two years. The story of the development of the walk is set out in its Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/thegreatgoldwalkaustralia/ Please 'like' our page. For full details about the walk, please go to its website at: www.thegreatgoldwalk.com The challenge now is to raise awareness of this wonderful walk. I have put in place an attractive offer for anyone that does the walk in the 2017 season; a refund of half the total walkers fees after completion of the walk and the posting of a TripAdvisor review. I would also be delighted to answer any questions that you may have about the walk. Jeff Floyd CEO Long Distance Walks Australia 61 419300575
