WALK SUMMARY
The most famous landmark in Gran Canaria is a huge, thrilling tower on a hilltop (at 1,813m) between Tejeda and Ayacata.
It can be approached from various directions, including from the pass at La Galeta, a 40 minute climb in company which would probably not be exciting enough on its own to join the walking Valhalla that is Walkopedia.
The most enjoyable approach must be the longer walk from Cruz Grande to the south-east of the high ridge, approaching across the dramatic El Montanon ridge, with huge views in all directions, including of Nublo itself.
This can be demanding walking in serious and waterless mountains: prepare.
See our Gran Canaria page for more walks, photos and detailed general information.
