Key information: Across the Bara Bhangal and Dhaula Dhar Ranges

  • A long trek crossing two remote, indeed almost empty, ranges, crossing the Kali Hind Pass in the Bara Bhangal at 4,610m and The Thamsar Pass in the Dhaula Dhar at 4,530m. In best way, drop to visit the large and lonely village of Bara Bhangal.
  • Wonderful high mountains, view fine glaciers and snowfields. Lovely campsites. Starts in the Kullu Valley and finishes in the Kangra Valley.
  • Travel in late June to mid-October, mid-September to mid-October to avoid the monsoon.
  • Tough walking in remote mountains. With the highest pass at 4,610m, altitude can cause real problems. Come fully prepared. Briefish info in Lonely Planet's Trekking in the Indian Himalaya.
  • This page is at an early stage of development (and note our photos so far relate to the area generically - we need specific pics for this trek). Please help us by making suggestions and sending photos! Thank you!
