Vallee d'Estaing
Key information: Vallee d'Estaing
- The mountains surrounding this particularly lovely valley beg to be explored. Think lakes, meadows and forested slopes below high crags and regular late snow.
- A variety of walks will take you to lakes, high(ish) cols and higher refuges to base yourself in. GR10 passes through, so is also a day or longer walking option. Or you can climb Grand Barbat (2,813m).
- This can be tough walking in high, remote mountains, with unpredictable weather. Come prepared.
