Navajo Loop

Bryce Canyon boasts some of the world’s most extraordinary scenery: an extensive area of brightly hued sandstone carved into a series of deep and huge amphitheatres in which sit an unimaginable profusion of spires, towers and other excrescences called hoodoos, and arches and other formations, all enhanced by gorgeous colour and texture contrasts.

The Navajo Loop is one of its finest walks, despite being relatively short at around 1.5 miles, dropping to the valley floor from Sunset Point on the rim.

Its eastern half winds down through extraordinary formations to meet the Queen’s Garden Connecting Trail, which also connects to the Queen’s Garden Trail and also the Peekaboo Trail.

The western arm passes through what many would say is Bryce’s most extraordinary formation, the steep, narrow Wall Street canyon, which puffs between vast hoodoo-walls which virtually meet far above.

It does involve a lot of ascent/descent. Likely to take 1+ hr. The Navajo can be joined some other walks to create a longer day.

Water is in very short supply. Bring enough.
