WALK SUMMARY
A short walk up the coast from the hamlet of Claigan at the end of the little road due north of Dunvegan is a superb and fascinating coral beach, composed of tiny fragments of coral and colourful shell.
Just off shore is a lovely islet, and beyond that the rough western shore of Loch Dunvegan: to the right is the wide open sea and, on a good day, the distant Outer Hebrides.
The walk to this magical place is a couple of kilometres along a good track, with good coastal views and a variety of interest including a little bay with the remains of a crofting hamlet.
This is the easy walking, so you will not be alone, so it is a lovely place to end a busy day rather than a serious walk. The parking at the roadhead can be painful – try coming later on.
